TUHAT & UH Half Year Report

Summer is here again and for many researchers this is the perfect time to tie up remaining loose ends. I´d like to remind you all to add your latest publications to the UH research database TUHAT and to double check that your profile there includes all of your previous publications.

The reason I´m bringing this up is because the TUHAT data will be submitted to the university administration for a half year reporting in August. This report is then used for operations management so it is important that the CS department representation in the data is as comprehensive and up to date as possible. To keep things short: TUHAT data affects funding!

I will be holding a more in depth presentation on TUHAT, Publication Forum and the Ministry of Education and Culture university funding model at the department next autumn, but the most important things to keep in mind when adding publications to TUHAT are:

  1. When adding conference publications, be sure to fill in the “Event information” section (scroll down)! Especially the name of the conference, dates and country are important. These are often used when the data is verified and corrected. This section is currently not marked as mandatory!
  2. Ideally write the name of the conference exactly as in the latest Publication forum rankings official Excel list: this can be downloaded from http://www.tsv.fi/julkaisufoorumi/konferenssi.php (assuming it is mentioned in the list)
  3. When adding journal articles, be sure to include the ISSN number! This will make it easier to match the data with other datasets such as the publication forum rankings.
  4. The deadline for TUHAT data to hit the UH administration half year report is in the middle of August!

Last but not least, I will be out of office from 12.6-31.7. I will do my best to answer emails during this time as well, but Jesse Klemola is covering me for all things CS related. You can contact him at jesse.klemola@helsinki.fi
