Bioinformatics Day 2008

The Bioinformatics Society of Finland aims at developing communication of research results of bioinformatics between scientists of the field and interested laymen, at promoting research of the field and getting publicity for research, and at advancing the use of Finnish in bioinformatics.

Our annual main event, the Bioinformatics Day, and the annual meeting of the Society take place in Helsinki (Kumpula) on Friday, May 16th, 2008. Note that the language of the event is Finnish.

The scientific programme includes keynote lectures by invited speakers, announcement of the prize for the best PhD thesis in bioinformatics in Finland in 2007, and a talk by the winner. In addition, there will be sessions for short five minute talks given by the participants, and we invite you to come forth with any bioinformatics-related topic you wish to speak on. We encourage you to use Finnish in the talks and abstracts, but you may present your work in English, too. You will be considered in the selection of speakers if you submit an abstract of your talk when registering for the meeting (April 23rd at the latest). The speakers are selected by April 30th, and the dead-line for non-speaker registration is May 5th.

The scientific programme, coffee, and the annual meeting (with refreshments) are free for the members of the Bioinformatics Society. Membership fee for 2008 is 20 EUR (undergraduate students 5 EUR).
