The City of Heinola

Heinola is located in southern Finland, amidst waterways, ridges and forests, making a real gem at the gate to the lake district in Finland. Heinola is located in South-Finland province on highway 4, about 1 hours' drive from Helsinki. Here in a small town of Heinola, which is approximately 800 km² we have only 20000 inhabitants, but still more than 1000 enterprises of different sizes, ranging from a manufacturer of industrial control systems to a maker of bottle return machines. Heinola was mostly consisted of scattered houses until 17th centure, when the town started form. First large industrial enterprise arrived to Heinola in 1930s, the Zachariassen Plywood Mill. In the 1950s Tampella's semipulp mill was established, which launched rapid industrial trend.
