Digital Media Technology S00, Session 3/ex tempore (3.-6.10.)

suomeksi

  1. Design and implement two different presentation styles for a set of web pages starting from the page http://www.cs.Helsinki.FI/group/dime/um/s00/harj/03/ex_2.html. Use CSS styles such that also later the style of

can be easily changed. Modify first the HTML structure (and content) to better suit your presentations, but use one HTML structure only for both of the presentations.

    The set of pages contains the files: ex_2.html, king.html, stetson.html, ucb.html, maynooth.html, king_inst.html, stetson_inst.html, ucb_inst.html and maynooth_inst.html.

  2. Try the CSS validator of W3C http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator-uri.html with some of your documents, e.g., the documents of the exercise above.

Note! @import doesn't work with Netscape. You can check other CSS incompatibilities of (Windows & Mac) browsers from page http://webreview.com/wr/pub/guides/style/mastergrid.html.

  3. Study the page http://db.cs.Helsinki.FI/~oheinone/cgi-howto.html and follow the instructions. I.e., create in the computer 'alkokrunni' a public_html directory and its subdirectory 'cgi-bin'. Copy the file 'hello.php3', which you find from the page, to the 'cgi-bin' directory. Add the access rights as told in the instructions. Try running the script 'hello.php3' by giving the URL

into the Location field of the browser.
