IRQ Problems on Intel 440BX

For some reason whenever i boot linux (i'm using debian), it assigns IRQ =
9 to the network card, the video card AND the keyboard. whenever i =
startx the keyboard and mouse completely lock up. I don't have this =
problem in windows. I have tried moving the cards around, to no avail. =
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please CC all replies to =
