I just patched 2.4.8 to 2.4.9 on an i686-linux-gnu(libc-2.2.3) box and
tried to compile using the same configuration options and compiler
(gcc-2.95.3) as I used to build 2.4.8. The build fails in one of the
modules. Here's the log:

gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes
-Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing
-fno-common -pipe -mpreferred-stack-boundary=3 -march=i686 -DMODULE
-DNTFS_VERSION=\"1.1.16\" -c -o unistr.o unistr.c
