History and interrelationship of PCMCIA wavelan_cs, wvlan_cs, and orinoco_cs?

Is there a place where I can find and follow the story of why there seem
to be *three* different open source drivers for the Lucent/aGere ORiNOCO
wireless ethernet card?

If it tells me which driver is better for what would be helpful too.
