[PATCH] omnibus include/ cleanup (biggish)

Nathan Myers (ncm@nospam.cantrip.org)
Thu, 15 Nov 2001 17:51:44 -0800

I have located every place under linux/include/ that #defines
a macro with an improper unary expression, like any of

#define X -1
#define Y ~0xf
#define Z !X
#define V *(char*)bleah
#define cpu_data &boot_cpu_data

The last example above caused an error in 2.4.15-pre4.
The patch below parenthesizes them.

It is archived at http://www.cantrip.org/patch-includes.diff
It applies to kernel 2.4.14-pre4. Note that it doesn't fix the example
noted above as found in asm-i386/processor.h, because that has already
been noted on the list. (Nobody else seems to have noticed that the
same error appears in include/asm-mips/processor.h.)

Another patch for headers not under include/ might follow if anybody
acknowledges this one.

There are undoubtedly hundreds more such violations involving
dyadic operators, but grep isn't so good at finding them.
