Tulip in 2.4.18-pre9: unworkability with CUPS continued

Tulip's unworkability with CUPS that I detected for 2.4.18-pre4, continued in
pre9.

CUPS printing with 2.4.18-pre9 is inpossible. Printing process hangs.
