Check your /proc been mounted as read-write.

on my machine:
fortress ~# sysctl -w net.unix.max_dgram_qlen=20;
net.unix.max_dgram_qlen = 20
fortress ~# sysctl -w net.unix.max_dgram_qlen=10;
net.unix.max_dgram_qlen = 10
