What did the folks on the cdwrite mailing list say?
cdwrite@other.debian.org is the best place for this, unless you're
triggering some odd kernel thing the problem is yours, but you're using
frontends for frontends for the software doing the work, and no indication
of what version of the apps you run. Most distributions use very old
versions of cdrecord and mkisofs, you need cdrtools 11a24 or later before
the author will stop telling you to send your software to an archelogist.
