RE: Anyone know how to get soft-power-down to work on an Intel SC

OK, I recompiled the kernel with the latest acpi patches
from sourceforge.net, and the dmesg output
seems to be recognizing the various ACPI, and
appears to be finding

Initialized 13/14 Regions 2/2 Fields 35/35 Buffers 12/12 Packages (559
nodes)
ACPI: Interpreter enabled
ACPI: Using PIC for interrupt routing
ACPI: System [ACPI] (supports S0 S1 S4 S5)
ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (00:00)

So it appears that at least the ACPI is recognizing the power-off
command S5

What I don't understand is, how does the /sbin/halt -p, and/or
/sbin/poweroff commands know to use ACPI and not APM???
(This particular kernel did not have ANY APM support compiled in.

Would it be possible for you to send me a tarball of your kernel-source
that DOES do the soft-power-off. I don't have a site for you to upload
to right now, but if you have a site that I could download from,
I'd really appreciate it!!!
