[trivial question] last messages to stderr

Hi.

Why are the last lines, while kernel-compilation,
like these:

Root device is (9, 0)
Boot sector 512 bytes.
Setup is 4766 bytes.
System is 2029 kB

to stderr? Why aren't they printed to stdout?
