I noticed the following error while compiling 2.1.68 on a machine
running 2.1.66 (no SMP). I have observed the same error in earlier
versions of 2.1.x but not in 2.0.x, AFAIK.
My whole source tree lies on a NFS partition. I just upgraded nfs-server
to 2.2.beta23 but it didn't make a difference.
Here's the error:
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/var/home/pub/linux-2.1.68/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes
-O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m386 -DCPU=386
-DUTS_MACHINE='"i386"' -c -o init/version.o init/version.c
cpp: /var/home/pub/linux-2.1.68/include/linux/compile.h: Stale NFS file handle
But the file compile.h exists and I can even 'cat' it.
What's going on?
