I'm running kernel 2.0.29 on 3 machines with full module support incl.
kerneld. My experience is, there are circumstances where kerneld gets
out of sync in conjunction with heavy manual module load/unload.
Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the error, but I'm sure there were 2
scenarios involved:

1.) dynamically loaded scsi support with aha1542, cdrom and tape
2.) pcmcia memory card stuff.
