Faulty kernel patch instructions

I've run into a problem patching from kernel level 2.0.30 to 2.0.32: the
version of `patch' that I'm using (V2.1) doesn't support the insertion
of additional files (as specified by the `-new-file' option on `diff'
lines) into the kernel sources. The instructions in the README file
ought to include an explicit warning about which level of the `patch'
utility is needed in order to modify the kernel sources successfully.
