Check your lilo append line. Add a line that says " append = "mem=191M" "
Use 1 meg less than total ram.
The kernel usually queries the bios for the total amount of memory, and in
most cases gets it right, but on some Mboards/bios it get the wrong
number.

The halt may be caused by exceeding the memory boundary, which
won't happen until the system has been doing things for a while, ( several
large compiles, open netcape lots or times, etc...)
