es1370 not functioning anymore in 2.2.14?

I have the es1370 in my PC. Module loads fine and all, but it
is not playing any sounds anymore.
2.2.13, things were fine.

When I use the `play'-script, I get:

marlboro:/mnt/keetweej/share1# play t.wav
sox: Invalid audio buffer size 0   

Or directly via sox:
marlboro:/mnt/keetweej/share1# sox t.wav -t ossdsp /dev/dsp
sox: Invalid audio buffer size
0
