But I suppose the by now infamous `coma bug' has paid it's contributions as
well.
My processor info looks about the same, there may be some minor differences,
but by heart it looks exactly alike.
Especially `coma bug: yes' and `fpu/fpu exception: yes' seem important to
me.
That means that the same problems occur with a fairly new stable kernel.
I've just installed Linux for the first time about 2 weeks ago, before that
my computer was running under Windows 95 and later 98. That didn't work out
very well either, there used to be similar problems under Windows as well.
What might be of interest is that the memory once was forced into 32 Mb with
some program called MagnaRam, which was almost impossible to remove. Also,
there's quite a bit of damage in hd-clusters too. Actually, I have no idea
whether or not these subjects are somehow related, and have their effects
even in the present, though all Windows-misery has been removed from my
computer (formatted, that is).
I wonder whether there might be a way to debug the processor. Maybe the
following link will help, but I'm not sure since I haven't tried myself yet:
