Seems so... as said, the system locks up quite drastically for a second or two,
then catching itself again and continuing (after the stated messages).

Each on its own. Detailed configuration follows:
Primary Master: Quantum Bigfoot CY4320A (which causes the pain...)
Primary Slave: IDE ZIP drive
Secondary Master: Quantum Fireball TM2110A (working clean)
Secondary Slave: Hitachi CDR-8335 ATAPI IDE CD-ROM
