pre3-1 badness

As you may have figured, I'm my own mail server (dustpuppy.ods.org). And
last night, as usual, I just left my machine connected and went to bed. I
woke up, flicked on my monitor, and it's covered with OOPSen. Further
inspection revealed that they were exim. Hmm, thinks I, I'd better write to
l-k. Most of my email stuff I try to do in a screen, and due to a bug(?) in
glibc, vc/0,1,2... aren't recognised as consoles, so I can't directly use
screen. Workaround: telnet in and get a pts/*. So I did. I telnetted, and
wham, more OOPSen, from telnet and in.telnetd. Man, something's seriously
screwed, thinks D, so I gave it a reboot and everything now appears fine. I
didn't get a chance to get all the OOPSen down because I don't have a
working mouse and GPM, and it's too much to write down and then key back in
if it's only for the one time. As I write this, about half an hour after I
rebooted, everything's all fine and working. I'm about to nick off for a
week to Mum's for a holiday, and there's a distinct lack of email there, so
don't expect any responses for a week, but if exim doesn't fall over, it'll
all be archived.
