University election
results: faculty council & University Senate
Professor Matti Nykänen and his deputy, Lecturer Harri Laine,
of the Computer Science Department were elected into the faculty
council of the Faculty of Science for the period 1 January 2004
- 31 December 2006. The elections, held on 19-20 November and 24-26
November, were the first ever on-line elections held at the University
of Helsinki. The amount of voters who used their vote increased
from the previous election. The percentage of voters for candidates
for the University Senate, for example, increased from 33.34 % in
2000 to 44.8 % this year, possibly as a result of the ease with
which voters could cast their votes on-line.
