Agile Education Research Group (RAGE) along with Arto Klami was awarded the best paper award at the 15th Koli Calling Conference on Computing Education Research (ACM). The work was seen as of especially high quality, as the conference does not give out best paper awards annually.
The work, entitled "Identification of Programmers from Typing Patterns", analyzes the possibilities of identifying individuals based on variances in keystroke latencies, and lies in the intersection of educational technology, educational data mining, data science and privacy. As there is an increasing trend in opening data sets for other researchers, as well as the educational movement related to open online courses, the work is very topical. Moreover, the work was seen to show promise in opening up new research streams in the area.
The authors of the article are Krista Longi, Juho Leinonen, Henrik Nygren, Joni Salmi, Arto Klami and Arto Vihavainen of whom three, with other RAGE members Jarmo Isotalo and Leo Leppänen, were present at the conference.
