31Any such philosophical claims in Buddhism could, in fact, be seen as clever devices only intended to help with meditation and other practices (Schroeder, 2004). The Theravadan master Ajahn Chah seems to have this intention when he says “If you think things are real there is suffering and there is fear. You are afraid of the different ways things may turn out. (...) There is thinking, then fear follows immediately. It deceives you, creating a picture to mislead you. (...)
