Best paper award at ACM SIGITE 2011 for article "Management, Structures and Tools to Scale up Personal Advising in Large Programming Courses"

Head of studies Jaakko Kurhila and university instructor Arto Vihavainen received the Best Paper Award at the 12th Annual Conference on Information Technology Education, ACM SIGITE 2011 in West Point, New York, October 20―22, 2011. The article  "Management, Structures and Tools to Scale up Personal Advising in Large Programming Courses" explores the new teaching methodologies employed at the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki, and their impact on education management.

Both authors are members of the research group Agile education research, RAGE.
