Our current goal is to enhance the prototype functionality by adding the schema management to the database system. We also plan to increase database availability by adding node recovery functionality to the prototype. For test purposes we also implement the client interface to be done through CORBA. The next big step (scheduled for 1999) is to make the prototype database to work as part of a real-time distributed database system.

In particular, we will carry out in 1998 the following research activities:

1. Implement at least partial schema management to the prototype

2. Implement node recovery

3. Implement CORBA access to the prototype database

4. Specify the distributed database features needed in telecommunications
