The student union of the Department of Computer Science, TKO-äly, has appointed former head of the department, Hannu 'Haba' Toivonen, an honorary member of the union. Toivonen is known as one of the founding members of TKO-äly and an active figure in its first administrative board. As head of the department, he worked hard to improve the cooperation between students and department. Toivonens academic career, scientific successes, and especially his positive outlook, have been an inspiration for many students of computer science.

 The union's autumn summit was unanimous in its decision to appoint Hannu Toivonen an honorary member. Previously, Linus Torvalds, the father of the Linux system, has been appointed honorary member.
