Monitoring the working hours of research assistants at the Department of Computer Science
Since 1 August 2010, all teaching and research staff belong to the 1,600-annual-work-hour system.
Research assistants are the exception; they have the same working hours as the rest of the staff.
Some of the research assistants at the department have part-time jobs or work in projects with
external funding. For the sake of project work and study progress, it does not make sense for
research assistants at the Department of Computer Science to have flexible working hours
or use the Flexim monitoring device. The supervisors should negotiate the contracted working
hours with the research assistants and monitor their working hours in other ways.
However, research assistants may start using the monitoring device (Flexim) and flexible working
hours if they wish. If they wish to do so, they should let Office Manager Pirjo Mulari know by
e-mail by the 4 February 2011.
