The University reform committee invites development ideas

In the next few years, structural development will be one of the key objectives of the
University of Helsinki. The draft for the University’s Strategic Plan for 2013-2016 focuses
on the profiling of research and establishing the University’s finances on a sustainable
footing.

The Rector has appointed a reform committee for the University of Helsinki to draft a concrete
proposal for using the University’s existing resources more effectively in the implementation of
strategic objectives. This proposal will also help the University to take precautions in the face
of potential funding cutbacks resulting from the weakening economy.

The proposals may pertain to all University activities and levels of administration from
content profiling, abolishment of activities and inter-university cooperation to restructuring
research and teaching.

The reform committee will prepare its proposal by 31 March 2012. All members of the
University community are invited to send their own proposals for the structural development
of the University and thus support the committee in its work.

The reform committee hopes to receive concise proposals, preferably less than 2,000
characters in length, as soon as possible and no later than 31 January 2012 by email:
reformiryhma@helsinki.fi.
