Tax cards no longer need to be delivered to the employer
Beginning 1 January 2014, employees are no longer required to deliver paper tax cards to their employer if the employer receives the tax withholding information from the Tax Administration by a direct online transfer. The Tax Administration shall deliver to the University tax information regarding those University of Helsinki employees who have received salaries, fees or grants during the period from 1 January to 13 December 2013 or whose employment contract, fee or grant has been stored in the UH salary system by 13 December 2013.
In other words, those who have received salaries, fees or grants during this period need not deliver their tax cards to the University of Helsinki. In these cases, the employer shall automatically apply the same information in the tax cards received by employees by post and use alternative A for the withholding scheme.
Requests for change to Personnel Services
However, if employees prefer alternative B or wish to have a higher withholding rate than the one indicated on the tax card that they received by post, they may send an informal revision request by email to Personnel Services.
Deliver tax cards to Personnel Services
Those who have not received salaries, fees or grants during the period specified above, and those who wish to be taxed according to a revised tax card, must deliver their paper-printed tax cards to Personnel Services as they have done in previous years.
The new tax cards shall take effect on 1 February 2014.
