University to have approximately thirty Bachelor's programmes

From autumn 2017, prospective University of Helsinki students will apply to multidisciplinary Bachelor’s programmes. The education reform will revamp all degrees.

The Big Wheel education reform has been underway at the University for nearly a year, and now the Bachelor's programmes have been chosen. The rector has decided that from autumn 2017, the University will have just over thirty Bachelor’s programmes. Decisions on Master’s programmes will be made in March.

The new degree programmes will be more multidisciplinary. This also means that there will be fewer than half of the current number of programmes open for application. This does not, however, mean that the University is cutting its disciplines or teaching contents. Instead, the new programmes comprise more than one discipline.
