This year, the annual Kumpula village party will start with a playful competition for the whole family, the Kumpula run. The run starts from the parking lot of the open-air baths at 9 o’clock, and the kilometre-long flea market on Limingantie will open at 10.
At the same time starts a concert that will last the whole day, climaxing in the final dance starting at 20.30, hosted by Kyläorkesteri (the village orchestra). There are a wealth of happenings in Kumpula the whole day. At the children’s event in the yard of the Kumpula school, there are various artisan and sports workshops, music and shows. In the theatre tent, there will be plays by six different playgroups, and at the authors’ event, you can meet several of the writers living nearby. There is a stage for the young bands from the vicinity, and a dance recital at the Kumpula botanical gardens, with free admission. Various local societies will present themselves at Tietotori (the information square), where there will also be a large group of experts to tell us about organic and locally produced food, as well as roof-top and urban farming. Bicentennial Helsinki will be honoured in the form of a photo exhibition; Kylätila will contain an exhibition with old photos of Kumpula.
