Extra trips

A DAY TRIP TO TALLINN

It is also possible to make a one days journey to Tallinn by boat. Prices vary between USD 10-90 per person. It is also possible to spend the night in Tallinn or in the boat. The need for a visa can be checked from the Consular Information.

By a catamaran it takes only 1 hour 40 minutes to reach Tallinn from Helsinki and you have the whole day to stay in Tallinn. It costs about USD 55 per person.

FLIGHTS TO LAPLAND AND TO RUSSIA

If you for example want to see the Midnight Sun at Lapland or to make a short trip to St Petersburg or Moscow in Russia, make all the reservations already in your home country and you will get 50% discount of Finnair's normal flight prices.

SIGHTSEEING CRUISES IN FRONT OF HELSINKI

There are several different possibilities to enjoy of our beautiful sea and archipelago. One way is to make a short sightseeing by boat. There are numerous sightseeing boats with various length embark daily at Kauppatori (Market Square). Prices are about USD 9 per person and depending on the duration of the cruise and the size and type of the boat or ship.

HELSINKI SIGHTSEEING BY TRAM

It is possible to hire a tram for 2 hours private sightseeing. 2 hours cost about USD 3,5 per person.

Normal tram-ticket costs about one dollar and tram 3T has got prerecorded guidance of its sights.

We do also have Spårakoff - a tram in where you can have a beer at the same time while looking for the sights. It is a little bit more expensive than the other trams but it sure differs from the others and it is the only one in the world of its kind. Tickets cost about USD 7 per person.

CLIMATE

Summertime maximum temperatures rarely exceed 85 F. A pullover or a jacket will be useful even in the summer. Monthly average temperatures in the summer months in Fahrenheit:

FLIGHTS TO HELSINKI

There are daily flights to Helsinki from major European cities and in addition, there are daily or weekly direct intercontinental flights from Beijing, Tokyo, Toronto and New York.

OTHER MEANS TO REACH HELSINKI

There are daily ferry services between Helsinki and Stockholm on high-standard ships sailing through a very scenic archipelago. Helsinki can also be reached by ferry from Travemuende (Germany), Gdansk (Poland) and Tallinn (Estonia). Destinations are more numerous in the summertime and can change with the season.

The Helsinki Central Railway Station, Rautatieasema, is in the downtown area. Trains arrive and leave daily for St Petersburg and Moscow as well as destinations in Finland.
