Professor Petri Myllymäki gave his inauguration lecture on Wednesday the 25th of May 2011 at the University Main Building. The topic of the lecture was "Occamin partaveitsi ja oppivat koneet” (eng. Occam's razor and learning machines). In the lecture Myllymäki discussed the nature of intelligence and it's definition for machine learning. The festivities consisted of other inauguration lectures, the chancellors’ speech, musical performances and the handing of letters of appointment.

Myllymäki was appointed professor of computer science at the University of Helsinki in November 2010. His specialization is in intelligent systems, in particular machine learning.
