I work as a university lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki. My teaching and research focus on programming and algorithms.

Competitive programming

I'm one of the organizers of the Finnish Olympiad in Informatics (Datatähti) and a coach and a team leader of Finnish BOI and IOI teams.

I'm a lead developer of the Code Submission Evaluation System (CSES), which has been used to organize several programming courses and contests.

I've written a free online book and a printed book on competitive programming. Read more

Melody search and transcription

I received my PhD in 2015 from the University of Helsinki. The title of my PhD thesis is Algorithms for melody search and transcription (website).

Coding theory

In 2016–2017, I worked at the Aalto University in Patric Östergård's group. We found a large number of new error-correcting codes. Read more

Olen kirjoittanut avoimen oppikirjan Tietorakenteet ja algoritmit, joka on tarkoitettu erityisesti Helsingin yliopiston samannimiselle kurssille.

Olen mukana Tie koodariksi -projektissa, jossa kehitetään ohjelmoinnin oppimateriaalia kouluja varten. Ensimmäinen Python-ohjelmointia käsittelevä kurssi on ilmestynyt.
