The University of Helsinki (effectively the department of Computer Science) was ranked 51-100 worldwide in Computer Science in the 2011 QS World University Rankings. Among the three components considered ("academic", "employment" and "citations"), the department performed best on citations.

The only other Finnish university ranked at all was Aalto, positioned 101-150. In all Nordic countries, only University of Helsinki and University of Copenhagen made it to rank 51-100. Only 11 European were in front of them in ranks 1-50, six of them from UK.
