Newer, cooler Software Factory 2.0 opens

Software Factory 2.0 in the final stage of construction.

Students, researchers, and industry partners get more space, better communication facilities, and a literally cooler environment at the new Software Factory 2.0.

Software Factory 2.0 has been under construction since summer 2011 andis currently getting its finishing touches. On August 29th, SoftwareFactory opens its doors for a preview before the first project starts in September.

The new factory has roughly doubled its floor space. There is now room for more seats and bigger projects. To support these, the factory is equipped with plenty of tools for collaborative software design, project management, and communication. The factory location is also better, next to the Exactum Unicafe.

One major improvement is the newly installed cooling system.
– The first Software Factory ran hot, especially in the summer. Version two is much cooler, says Fabian Fagerholm with a smile. He has been heading the project to move and extend the factory.

The new facility also considers well-being and comfort. Tasks that require a lot of concentration are located in a special section surrounded by a sound-reducing fabric. A mini-living room and kitchen allows for creative breaks and free-form design meetings.

The first project in Software Factory 2.0 will start in early September. Students are invited to apply through the ilmo system!
