University in Society Award - nominate candidates!

In order to highlight the importance of universities’ third mission, the University of Helsinki has created an annual

University in Society Award

that recognizes outstanding achievements in the area of societal interaction and community engagement in the University of Helsinki.

The Award will be given to a person, group, unit or a community/cooperative that in an exemplary manner has

• Advanced the contribution and benefits to society of teaching and research conducted at the University of Helsinki, or
• Enhanced the University of Helsinki’s stakeholder cooperation, or
• Increased the University of Helsinki’s national or international visibility and reputation, or
• Otherwise significantly contributed to and advanced the University of Helsinki’s engagement with society.

The winner of the Award can be a University of Helsinki employee, student, or an external partner of the University. All members of the university community can nominate candidates.

Please send your nomination, addressed to the Council for Societal Interaction of the University of Helsinki, by email to insight@helsinki.fi by Friday, September 21, 2012, at the latest.

The Award winner will be decided by the Rector of the University of Helsinki. The Award will be presented in November 2012.
