Building opening hours for summer 2016

For summer 2016, the opening hours will be shorter, and in July, the front doors will be locked for more University buildings than before. As teaching begins to gradually end towards the summer, the University's campuses see fewer students and other visitors, and there is less demand for extended opening hours than during the terms. Staff can enter buildings with their own access keys.

When buildings are closed, facility services staff can take their summer vacations at the same time. This is necessary since it has become more difficult to hire deputies during the recruitment freeze.

Services continue

The goal is to concentrate all events into the buildings that remain open. This means the facilities will be available as necessary. Use the booking service to enquire about and book facilities.

The libraries, the National Library and the campus cafeterias as well as sports services will have different opening hours during the summer. Check the opening hours online.

Porter services will be available throughout the summer even when the designated porter of the building is on vacation. To reach a porter, call the porter station. Your call will be directed to the person in charge of the facility in question. Service for urgent maintenance and repairs will continue through the summer.

Help from the University’s phone exchange

The University’s phone exchange has up-to-date information on the opening hours of the buildings, and can help you contact the people in charge of facility services. (The exchange is available Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 16.00 at tel. 02941911.)

Outside these office hours, the University’s security provider can be contacted at tel. 02941 44500 in case of emergencies also during the summer.
